Maths is a key life skill and, at our school, we stress the importance of applying mathematical skills and the acquisition of knowledge.
In numeracy we develop a child’s confidence and competence with numbers and measures. There is a strong emphasis on mental calculations and children are taught a variety of approaches to solve problems, often set in real life situations.
This is also the case when working on shape activities, and is essential in the understanding of the measurements of length, weight, capacity and time. We also show our children ways of gathering information, handling data and presenting their results in graphs, charts and tables.
